    At the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, Lovato was nominated for two VMAs for her song “I Love Me”, becoming the first artist in VMAs history to receive a nomination every year for eight consecutive years. In February 2017, Lovato executive-produced a documentary, Beyond Silence, which follows three individuals and their experiences with mental illnesses including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety. Lovato featured in Cheat Codes’ song “No Promises”, released in March 2017, and Jax Jones’s “Instruction” along with Stefflon Don, released in June 2017. In 2017, Lovato was included in Time magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

    Revenue for Latina-owned businesses grows at about 9.5 percent per year. As of 2013, Latinas owned about 1 out of every 10 women-owned businesses. Latina women represented 49 percent of all Latinos who matriculated into medical school in 2004. From 1980 to 2004, the number of Latina medical school graduates per year jumped from 93 to 485. Only 3 percent of Latina women are represented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, or STEM, fields, while women in total make up 24 percent of the STEM workforce.

    There are also relatively high rates with other groups such as African Americans, Jewish Americans, Italian Americans, Irish Americans, Mexican Americans, Cuban Americans, Trinidadian Americans, Haitian Americans and Jamaican Americans. The vast majority of Puerto Ricans in the United States are adherents of Christianity. Though, Catholics are the largest in number, there are also significant numbers of followers of numerous Protestant denominations. Protestants make up a larger proportion of the Stateside Puerto Rican population then they do of the population of Puerto Rico. Some Puerto Rican Catholics also cohesively practice Santería, a Yoruba-Catholic syncretic mix.

    On June 26, 2019, during the first 2020 Democratic Party presidential debate, the word was used by the presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren, which USA Today called “one of the highest profile uses of the term since its conception”. At Princeton University the Latinx Perspective Organization was founded in 2016 to “unify Princeton’s diverse Latinx community” and several student-run organizations at other institutions have utilized the word in their title. may have been an influence or model for the development of Latinx. The term emerged in response “to circumstances in which existent language structures fail to articulate value in appropriate ways.”

    The influx of other Latino and Hispanic groups between 2000 and 2010, may have slightly decreased the proportion Puerto Ricans make up of the city’s total Latino and Hispanic population. Though, unlike many other large northern cities, which have declining or slow-growing Puerto Rican populations, Philadelphia has one of the fastest-growing Puerto Rican populations in the country. The struggle for legal work and affordable housing remains fairly low and the implementation of favorable public policy fairly inconsistent.

    Middle-class neighborhoods predominately populated by Puerto Ricans are mostly found throughout Central Florida, including Orlando, Tampa and their suburbs. Smaller, more scattered numbers of well-off Puerto Ricans can be seen throughout the United States, in both traditional Puerto Rican settlements in the Northeast and Midwest, and in progressive sunbelt cities of the South and West. Jennifer Lopez, a Nuyorican, is one of the highest-grossing and most multi-faceted entertainers in U.S. history. Puerto Ricans have a 38.5% intermarriage rate, the highest amongst Latino groups in the United States. Puerto Rican intermarriage and procreation rates are highest with Dominican Americans, another Caribbean Latino group with very similar culture, high US population numbers, and that usually live in the same neighborhoods.

    That media portrayal transfers into the real world where Latinas feel the obligation to dress explicitly or are expected to do so by white men in order to be accepted in society, which can harm the way Latinas view themselves. But some Latino women aren’t doing the rest of us any favors, with some popular stars contributing to exoticism. Suddenly, Latinas became a hot commodity and have the expectations of following the media’s image of a Latina.

Latina-owned businesses are concentrated in the industries of health care at 20 percent, administrative services at 18 percent, retail at 10 percent, professional at 9 percent, and real estate at 6 percent. Latina women own 36 percent of all companies owned by minority women in America. The increase in revenue has been even greater, with Latina-owned businesses earning 57 percent more from 2002 to 2007, when compared with a mere 5 percent increase among all women’s businesses over the same period.

    The album’s second and final single, “Give Your Heart a Break”, was released on January 23, 2012, and later peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 16, making Lovato’s fourth highest-charting song to that point. It peaked at number 12 on the US Adult Top 40 chart and number one on the US Pop Songs chart. It also became the longest climb by a female artist to reach No. 1 in the Pop Songs chart history, until 2019, when Halsey’s feature on “Eastside” broke the record. The song was certified triple Platinum in the US; As of October 2014, “Give Your Heart a Break” has sold 2.1 million digital copies.

That is a fact not subject to historical rectifications and a reality which no law can change.” Since 2007, the Government of Puerto Rico has been issuing “Certificates of Puerto Rican Citizenship” to anyone born in Puerto Rico or to anyone born outside of Puerto Rico with at least one parent who was born in Puerto Rico. The Spanish Government recognizes Puerto Ricans as a people with Puerto Rican, “and not American”, citizenship. It also provides Puerto Rican citizens privileges not provided to citizens of several other nations. In 1942, a vote passed on HR 6165 to preserve Puerto Rican nationality.

    Soon, Puerto Rico was a Spanish colony on its way to becoming an important military outpost. The Constitution originally mandated election by popular vote only for the House of Representatives, with Senators being chosen by State legislatures. The 17th amendment specified direct popular election for Senators.
